Hey everyone, I just wanted to say thanks to the thousands of loyal readers that sent me well wishes over the last month or so, once word got out that Yahoo was laying me off on Dec. 31.
It is with great humility and pride that I received so many nice and touching e-mails wishing me well -- not to mention all those folks who felt Yahoo was making a mistake. I left Yahoo without burning any bridges, I understood it was a business decision and am moving on. I have remained on friendly terms with everyone back at the old "Y," and there's a possibility I may still do some freelance work in the near future.
But equally, if not more importantly, I am deeply humbled by how virtually everyone who e-mailed me with good wishes also asked how they could follow me to my next outpost and so graciously requested that I inform them when that time came. I have begun to do just that.
I'm currently in the process of doing just that. Of course, sending out so many e-mails is going to take time. That's why most readers will likely get a "form" e-mail informing them of my new home. I'm sure you understand how difficult the logistics are to write individual notes.
And besides, you want my thoughts on NASCAR more than an e-mail letting you know where I've wound up at, right?
For now, I'm focusing most of my energy on a ton of freelance work that I've been offered, as well as trying to finish my long-delayed first book project on, of course, NASCAR (more info to come about that in the coming weeks).
Also, I have spoken with several major media outlets in the last few weeks and it's humbling that not only have I received a great deal of interest, there's a very good likelihood that I will hopefully be announcing my new online home (besides here at jerrybonkowski.com) in the next few weeks.
Thank you all again for your support, faith and good wishes. Now, let's get back to business and racing!
Hey J-man: Great to see you back online. We've been going crazy without your thoughts! Loved that video. Yahoo really f-ed up by letting you go. Shoot, I'd much rather watch that Youtube video by that English guy than watch those morons from Rowdy. Yahoo made the biggest mistake it could ever have done by letting you go. Good luck with the new gig and I'll be readin' ya every day, man. Peace out.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I just found you and trading paint about 10 months ago -- yes, I am learning how to get around on the web. I learned a great deal from reading Trading Paint and your stories/columns. I am looking forward to Trading Paint returning, an hopefully someone else will be smart enough to pick you up (since Yahoo appears to be without a clue). I do not understand "Select profile . . . so I will just go anonymous until I figure that out
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your sense of humor in the past and I am pleased that we will all get to enjoy it again. Thanks to Jayski, I found you!
ReplyDeleteI am a HUGE believer in everything happens for a reason and something better will come along. It will happen to YOU too!
