Life is good for Carl Edwards these days.
He's happily married to Kate, the couple just welcomed their second child in May, he has a number of successful off-track businesses and Carl has sat atop the Sprint Cup driver standings for much of the first 16 races of the season.
Meanwhile, in the offices of several Sprint Cup teams, Edwards graces a virtual "Wanted" poster, indicative of being the most coveted potential free agent the sport has seen in several years. With his current contract set to expire at season's end with Roush Fenway Racing, Edwards will command perhaps the richest driver deal in NASCAR history when he finally signs on the dotted line.
The question is, which team will give him the most lucrative bottom line?
Seemingly every day we hear new rumors about Edwards staying at RFR, or of potentially becoming a fourth driver for (or replacing Joey Logano and assuming the Home Depot sponsorship) at Joe Gibbs Racing.
Edwards' name has also been linked with possibly becoming a third driver for Stewart Haas Racing.
Among the latest rumors is he may start his own team – with help of a big, unnamed mega-bucks sponsor (of course).
